The Emmy nominations were announced yesterday, and nothing shocked. Sure, there were a few snubs and a few curious inclusions, but nothing Earth-shattering. This year, with a new voting system and expanded numbers of nominees, those invited to the party are a good mix of fresh faces - and the old and haggard.
30 Rock and Mad Men led all series with 22 and 16 nominations, respectively. Those shows are great, but how 'bout spreading the love? Did Matthew Weiner really deserve 4 individual nominations for writing his show? And Jennifer Aniston as a guest star on 30 Rock? Even Oprah was funnier.
Neil Patrick Harris will host the awards in September. With Jeremy Piven out of the running, perhaps now he'll actually have a shot at winning supporting actor in a comedy? Stay tuned!
